We've been quiet lately, but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. With the strange times we find ourselves living in, we're adjusting our lives and our expectations for, well... just about everything. Most specifically, we're adjusting our expectations for this adoption.
While we are still in the paperwork preparation process, we know the setbacks that are occurring now in the international adoption process will likely affect us at some point. Colombia has restricted travel through August which means many families who were expecting to travel during the summer months (and even spring) have not and will not be able to travel until September at the earliest, and that is still subject to change. While that does not affect us now, it certainly could when it comes time to get a court date due to the backlog of so many cases.
We do have friends who are currently adopting from Colombia, matched to their kiddos and are yet stuck, unable to complete the process. Please pray for them and so many other families and children who are unable to be united due to this pandemic. We are not unfamiliar with government restrictions and global crises halting, hindering, and preventing the adoption process, and we know how hard it can be to be told over and over to "just wait."
Some Good News
We are officially in the dossier (doss-ee-ay) process! That's a fancy way of saying we've completed all of the state requirements and we're now working to complete federal requirements and submit our petition to adopt. The home study process ended up taking much longer than we anticipated, so we're hoping this part of the process doesn't drag on, but we're not holding our breath for that.

Fundraising
Adoption is expensive. There's just no other way to say it. The Lord has been so gracious to allow us to begin this second adoption with the funds we had personally saved, but now it's time to fundraise (again).
